New iPod Colors
Buried among the bigger product announcements coming out of today’s much anticipated media event, Apple announced a refresh of their iPod Nano and Shuffle lines.
Besides some new features and a fatter form factor for the Nano, both the Nano and Shuffle are now available in a few fresh new colors:
iPod Nano
iPod Shuffle
Having not seen them in person yet, these muted, Spring-like colors appear to be a drastic change from the sleek, vibrant, “hip” Nano/Mini colors Apple has chosen in the past.
And something tells me those silhouette commercials just wouldn’t have been as cool with a robins-egg blue background from these new iPods…

I’ve been wondering about these colors as well. I’m sure they were well researched. I’d have to guess that they are more muted indeference to the fact that people tend to wear these iPods and the previous high-chrome colors might have made some people a little uncomfortable.

That’s a good point krimpet. These colors might blend a little easier with the colors that most people wear. Interesting thought…

On the other hand, you could say Apple wants to contrast with the muted colors people are wearing in order to make their product stand out. If you look at their advertising, and even on the shuffle page, you can see the visible contrast.
